Personal projects

I like buying seasonal products at the market, photograph them and then make something good. The healthy habit of cooking only seasonal food was a trait of both my grandmothers; both had a vegetable garden that mirrored their personalities, one neat and linear, the other wild and unpredictable – rosemary, calla lilies and trumpet courgettes all growing in the same corner. Both, however, produced large quantities of vegetables, some fruit and some flowers. I recognize myself in that natural need of being hospitable and appreciate what comes from the earth in the present moment. There are certain rhythms that must be respected, sanctified, honoured. I really like cooking and experimenting with new flavours in the kitchen, so each time it’s a different experience from the last.
